Fremont Library hosts Nowruz card-making workshop for youth

Spring arrives early at the Fremont Branch Library this Saturday, courtesy of the Peyvand Non-Profit Organization.

The group is hosting a free Nowruz Youth & Teen Art Workshop on March 7 from noon to 2 p.m., inviting young people to learn about the Persian New Year and celebrate the season through hands-on card-making.

Nowruz, which means “new day” in Persian, marks the arrival of spring at the vernal equinox and has been celebrated for thousands of years across Persian, Kurdish, Afghan, and other communities. This year’s equinox falls on March 20.

At Saturday’s workshop, participants will explore the traditions behind Nowruz and the science of the vernal equinox before creating their own cards inspired by springtime symbols. Envelopes and stamps are included, so finished cards are ready to send.

The event is open to youth and teens and is free to attend. Space is limited and an RSVP is required here.

The Fremont Branch Library is located at 731 N. 35th St.
