Location: 417 N 36th St  Spotted by: Fremont Neighbor

Walked past N 36th after the Fremont Sunday Market this weekend and found this: Benny’s rocks, still holding their ground.

Fawzi Benhariz, also known as Benny, balanced stone sculptures on this stretch of sidewalk for more than 20 years. He passed away in 2024, but his portrait placed by the Indoor Sun Shoppe‘s Shaun Murphy keeps his presence in the neighborhood. The stones definitely do too.

Like other Fremont in the Wild features, it is unknown who created these sculptures. Mysteries (and art!) endure in the Center of the Universe.
