Fremont in the Wild: Stay Weird. Make Art. Confuse People.

,

A toothy creature with spiral eyes has taken up residence on the front window of the old Roxy’s Diner on N 36th Street.

Scrawled in white paint marker, the window art delivers a three-part message that reads like an unofficial Fremont manifesto: “Stay Weird. Make Art. Confuse People.”

The creature’s days are numbered though. The building is slated for demolition this summer as part of a larger redevelopment on the N 36th Street corridor. Prometheus Real Estate Group plans to replace the block with a seven-story mixed-use building featuring approximately 300 residential units and ground-floor retail. An overview of the development will be presented at the May 26 Fremont Neighborhood Council meeting.

Fremont in the Wild is an occasional series spotlighting the quirky, creative and unexpected finds around the neighborhood. Seen something wild in Fremont? Send it to editor@fremontneighbor.com.
