Saying goodbye
Purple Cafe and Wine Bar (3400 Stone Way N) closed Aug. 1. According to the Heavy Restaurant Group, they were “unable to generate the sales needed for Purple to be a viable business at this location.” There are two other Purple locations in the Seattle area: downtown and Woodinville.
Love Lurra (3427 Fremont Pl. N) decided not to renew their lease and their last day open is Aug. 23. The shop specializes in handcrafted skincare products, and they’ll continue to sell them at their booth at the Point Ruston, Tacoma public market.
New arrivals
Daily Ritual Market (3421 Fremont Ave. N) opened in the former Caked Goods/Simply Desserts space mid-June. The market stocks Daily Ritual Apothecary and other wellness products, and will eventually offer teas, tonics, and other drinks to go. According to their Instagram, they’re still waiting on a food permit.
Handsome Jack Supply Co. (223 N 36th St.) opened in early June, and owner Murphy Gilson has stocked it with the kind of vinyl, watches, and pocket knives he loves. The shop doubles as a gathering place, with live music, workshops, art shows, and pop-ups.
Okki Hana Sushi (3515 Fremont Ave. N) serves fresh nigiri, sashimi, specialty rolls, poke bowls, and Japanese comfort food. A Yelp reviewer noted it’s reasonably priced and has a ‘mom and pop’ kind of charm.
Panda House – Art & Living Studio (3420 Fremont Ave. N) features crystal bracelets, jewelry, and a DIY Bracelet Bar. You can also order their jewelry online at pandahouseseattle.com.
Posto Pilates (118 NW Canal St., Suite A) has a motto, “Come as you are. Leave more yourself.” The canal-facing Pilates studio is open to beginners and experts.
Bar Twist of Fate (225 N 36th St.) is operated by the nearby Stampede team, and calls itself, “a modern medieval luxury dive bar.” It features an expansive back patio, eclectic decor, and gothic vibes.
Washington State Ballet Theater (4117 Stone Way N) is a dance school that offers classes for children, teens, and adults. The school’s website notes their faculty are world-renowned and there are performance opportunities for students in professional productions.
Zip Dak Express (4605 Fremont Ave. N) is a Korean fried chicken food truck next to the Shell Station in Upper Fremont. Their brick and mortar shop is a Kirkland staple, and folks on Facebook are giving their Seattle truck rave reviews.
Hello, again!
7-Eleven (304 N 36th St.) reopened and the new gas pumps premiered this summer. Ownership also changed; Ron Bhamipuri retired after working at the Fremont store since 1995.
Petapaluza (112 N 36th St.) reopened in June at the same location and services as the previous shop, but under new ownership, with a new booking link and phone number.

Marmalade Fremont (4128 Fremont Ave. N) went dark in late July. Neighbors noticed a closed sign but no announcements were found online. We reached out to the owner for more details but haven’t heard back. The closed note has come down, so it still may be open. This artisanal gelato joint quickly became a neighborhood fixture after years of anticipation.
