Hi, I’m Alyson Teeter, founder of Fremont Neighbor. Though I grew up in Montesano, Wash., Fremont has always felt like home. I fell in love with the neighborhood while studying at the University of Washington, and after years away for military service, I knew this was where I wanted to be.
Since settling here, I’ve been active in the community, serving on the Fremont Neighborhood Council board and volunteering with the Ballard Veterans of Foreign Wars and Woodland Park Co-op. I’m passionate about civic engagement, local stories, and keeping neighbors informed.
When The Fremocentrist stopped publishing, it left a gap in hyperlocal news. With my background and love for this community, I felt compelled to bring local Fremont news coverage back.
Designed by Aaron Perkins, the Fremont Neighbor logo proudly features the dinosaur topiary: an enduring symbol of Fremont’s creativity and community spirit. These beloved sculptures, a mother and child dinosaur, were originally part of a public art installation at the Pacific Science Center before finding their home in Fremont, thanks to Suzie Burke. For decades, the Fremont Rotary has maintained them, ensuring they remain a cherished piece of our neighborhood’s character.
As a mother these topiaries hold special meaning for me, reflecting the care and support that make Fremont feel like a small town. Just as our community has come together to preserve these sculptures, Fremont Neighbor is dedicated to fostering connections and keeping our shared stories alive.
