Seattle’s Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation, is seeking two animation artists for a special residency in the historic towers of the Fremont and University Bridges.

This residency welcomes a variety of animation styles – including stop motion, 3D animation, rotoscoping, and more – offering artists the chance to creatively reimagine these iconic structures. The Fremont Bridge, with its distinctive character and daily rhythm, provides a perfect muse for storytelling that blends history, engineering, and artistic vision.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to experiment, innovate, and craft animated narratives that breathe new life into these landmarks. Their final works will be showcased at ARTS at King Street Station in February 2026.

If you’re an animator looking for an inspiring backdrop, this residency could be your chance to make the Fremont Bridge a central character in your next creative project. Find the application details, deadlines, and funding categories at Seattle Office of Arts & Culture.
