Any day now, the city is changing the bus and parking lanes lining Aurora through Fremont to bus-only lanes around the clock.
“Starting as soon as late May, bus-only lane signs will be installed along Aurora Ave,” according to an email from the Seattle Department of Transportation. “As the new bus-only lane signs are installed the new 24/7 bus lanes will go into effect.”
Southbound: One lane from N 115th St to N 38th St will become a 24/7 bus lane.
Northbound: One lane from N 38th St to N 59th St, and from Winona Ave to N 115th St, will become a 24/7 bus lane.
For the most part, the all day, every day bus lane means that parking or loading on Aurora will no longer be allowed. Extra signs will be installed where there are parking and loading exceptions.
These measures will help ensure a smoother trip for the RapidRide E Line, while managing extra traffic on Aurora during summer I-5 lane closures, according to SDOT.
