Seattle City Light has been implementing its Curbside Level 2 EV Charging Program in various neighborhoods around the city, including Fremont. The program installs electric vehicle charging stations on public streets, aimed at residents who don’t have access to private charging options at home.
About the Program
The curbside charging stations installed by Seattle City Light are Level 2 chargers that:
- Are located on residential streets
- Provide approximately 20-25 miles of range per hour of charging
- Are part of Seattle’s broader transportation infrastructure initiatives
- Aim to make electric vehicle ownership more practical for those without off-street parking
Fremont Charging Locations
The program has brought several charging stations to our neighborhood, with more potentially on the way. Current Fremont curbside charging locations include:
- 3930 Whitman Ave North
- 4225 Stone Way North
- 311 North 45th Street
- 3600 block of Dayton Ave North (proposed location)
How to Use the Chargers
Using these chargers is straightforward:
- Download the ChargePoint app or create an account on their website
- Locate a charging station through the app
- Connect your vehicle using your own charging cable
- Pay through the app (current rate is $0.20 per kWh plus $0.08 per minute after the first hour)
Additional Information
Seattle City Light accepts resident input on potential future charger locations. Those interested in learning more about the program or suggesting new locations can find details on the Seattle City Light website.
