Fremont’s dinosaur topiaries received their annual spring trimming thanks to the Fremont Rotary Club on March 7, 2025. Rudy Pantoja Jr., President of the Fremont Rotary, said the club has cared for and maintained the dinosaurs since the late-1990s when Rotarian Suzie Burke acquired them from the Seattle Center. At the time, the sculptures were simply stuffed with moss and other materials, with no living plants. The Fremont Rotary planted ivy at their legs and tails, which has since flourished into the topiaries seen today.
Every spring the rotary crew — aka the Fremont Fun Club — gathers to give the pair a much-needed trim and also pick up litter. The Fremont Rotary has also officially adopted the stretch of the Burke-Gilman Trail in front of the dinosaurs, which runs through Fremont Canal Park.
