The first annual Fremont Holiday Flurry delivered on its promise Saturday evening, filling the neighborhood with music, dance and the kind of quirky holiday spirit only Fremont could pull off.

VAM Studios brought out dancers and drummers who kept the energy high throughout the evening. The Fremont Arts Council’s stunning snowman head atop the Lenin statue was lit up, followed by the crowd singing “Frosty the Snowman.” The collaboration between the Fremont Arts Council and VAM Studios added a creative community touch to the celebration.

After the lighting, the crowd headed across the street to the parking lot at Evanston Ave. and North 36th St. for caroling. Then the VAM dancers took over, putting on an outdoor performance featuring dancing and drumming that kept spectators entertained despite the winter chill.

And in true Fremont fashion, Klingon Carolers were at the festivities, bringing sci-fi holiday cheer to the mix.

The evening brought together exactly what makes Fremont special: creative collaboration, community spirit, and a healthy dose of whimsy.
