Fremont Neighbor Notes for this weekend

,

Hello, neighbors! Welcome to the very first edition of “Fremont Neighbor Notes,” a Friday guide to what’s happening around our community on the weekend.

Ballard Bridge Closure: April 25-28. Bridge closes Friday at 10 PM (lane closures starting 7 p.m.) and reopens Monday by 5 a.m. 15th Ave NW will also be fully closed between NW 51st St and NW 50th St during this period for concrete roadway restoration. SDOT recommends using the Aurora Bridge (SR 99) if you have to drive and only use the Fremont Bridge if you’re traveling to Fremont or Westlake, since the bridge has limited capacity. Future closure dates: May 9-12, May 30-June 2, June 6-9.

City Nature Challenge: April 25-28. Help showcase our region’s biodiversity by documenting local species using the free iNaturalist app. Participate by photographing wild plants, animals and fungi in your area or by helping identify others’ observations. More information is available at the Woodland Park Zoo website.

Seattle Independent Bookstore Day: Saturday, April 26. Visit local independent bookstores as part of the Bookstore Day Passport Challenge. Visit all 29 participating stores by May 5 for a Champion Stamp Card offering 25% discounts. Fremont participants include Book Larder, Charlie’s Queer Books, and Ophelia’s Books.

Drug Take Back Day: Saturday, April 26. 10am-2pm at the Seattle Police Department’s North Precinct (10049 College Way N). Drop off expired, unused or unwanted medications with no questions asked.
