Seattle police arrested a 31-year-old man Thursday afternoon in Fremont following multiple attacks on pedestrians and property.
Officers responded around 2 p.m. on April 10 to the 600 block of North 34th Street after receiving reports of a man throwing rocks at people, vehicles, and a building. With assistance from community members and a Seattle Parking Enforcement Officer, police located and apprehended the suspect.
According to police reports, the man threw a boulder through a woman’s car window, completely shattering the glass. The victim told officers she believed the same person had damaged her vehicle four months earlier.
In a separate incident during the same spree, the suspect allegedly threw a large rock at a restaurant worker, grazing her head while shouting slurs related to her sexual orientation. The worker recognized the man from two weeks prior, when he allegedly punched her in the face.
Records show the suspect was previously arrested on March 22 following similar behavior, including smashing windows, damaging a vehicle while using anti-Asian slurs, and assaulting a woman. He faced charges of assault and multiple counts of malicious mischief at that time.
Following Thursday’s arrest, the man was initially transported to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation before being booked into King County Jail on charges of hate crime offense and property destruction.
The case has been assigned to SPD’s Bias Crimes Coordinator for further investigation.
