If you’ve been following Fremont Neighbor on social media or get the weekly newsletter, you’ve probably noticed things have been busy around here lately. Between holiday events, community gatherings, and the general delightful chaos that is Fremont in December, I’m officially ready to hit pause.
The newsletter will be taking a break for the next two weeks. No emails cluttering your inbox, no frantic “did I miss that event?!” panic. Just some well-deserved downtime for all of us.
What a year it’s been
But before I fully check out and pretend I know how to relax, I want to take a moment to say thank you.
Launching Fremont Neighbor this year has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. What started as “someone should really be covering this neighborhood” turned into getting to be professionally nosy about the best corner of Seattle.
Every time I thought I understood what makes this neighborhood tick, someone would introduce me to another layer – another story, another tradition, another quirky detail that could only happen here.
You made this what it is
Here’s the thing: Fremont Neighbor wouldn’t exist without you.
Thank you for:
- Sending tips about new businesses, events, and things happening around the neighborhood
- Responding to my random emails and questions
- Showing up to events and letting me take your photo
- Sharing your stories and trusting me to tell them
- Giving feedback (even when it was “hey, you missed this”)
- Caring so deeply about this weird, wonderful community
Your engagement has made Fremont Neighbor what it is.
What’s next
I’ll be back in early January with renewed energy and probably way too much enthusiasm about whatever Fremont throws at me next. (Spoiler: it’s always something interesting.)
In the meantime:
- The website will still be here with all the archives
- Social media will be quiet but not totally dark
- If something urgent comes up, you can always reach me at editor@fremontneighbor.com
Haven’t subscribed to the Friday Fix newsletter yet? Now’s a great time – sign up here and you’ll get the first 2026 edition delivered straight to your inbox.
Until then
Enjoy the holidays. Hug your neighbors. Support our local businesses. Maybe put up some weird decorations (holiday skeletons, anyone?).
And remember: Fremont is only as special as the people who care about it. That’s you.
See you in 2026,
❤️- Aly
