The Fremont Art Council’s Powerhouse at 3940 Fremont Ave. N. is your community art maker-space, offering free workshops and events open to the public. With a $5 suggested donation to cover materials, this vibrant space encourages walk-ins and creative exploration for all ages.
Current Activities: Daily Luminata Lantern Workshops run Sept. 3-17, where participants decorate white paper globe lanterns using watercolors, tissue papers, beads and other donated materials. Workshops are weeknights 6-9 p.m. and weekends 1-4 p.m., with no registration required. There’s also a Trolloween Planning Meeting Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. for those wanting to help organize the Oct. 31 Halloween event at the Fremont Troll.
Volunteer Opportunities & Upcoming Event: The Powerhouse needs Workshop Assistants for lantern-making sessions and various volunteers for the main Luminata event on Sept. 20 at Green Lake Park. Luminata celebrates the Fall Equinox with a lantern processional starting at 7:30 p.m. along Green Lake’s Inner Loop Path, featuring illuminated art installations throughout the route. The Lantern Sales Tent opens at 5:30 p.m., and all volunteers receive a complimentary lantern as thanks for their service.
