Since launching in March 2025, Fremont Neighbor has been covering the people, places, and stories that make our neighborhood unique. From local government updates to business profiles, community events to the quirky happenings that define Fremont, this project has been a labor of love, self-funded and built to serve our community.
All content remains free and accessible to everyone. That won’t change.
But here’s the thing: running a news site – even a small, volunteer-run one – comes with costs. Web hosting, domain registration, tools, and most importantly, time. I’ve been covering those costs myself, but as the site grows, so do the expenses.
The awkward part
I know times are tough. We’re all getting nickel-and-dimed by subscriptions, rising costs, and endless requests for money. Seattle is so expensive! Every app, every service, every cause wants a piece of your paycheck. I get it, it’s exhausting.
So here’s the deal: if Fremont Neighbor adds value to your week and you have a few bucks to spare, I’ve launched a Patreon where you can become a “Founding Neighbor” and support this work. If you don’t, that’s completely fine. Seriously. Keep reading, keep sharing stories, keep being part of the community. That matters too.
What your support does
Every contribution – large or small – helps cover the costs of running the site and allows me to dedicate more time to neighborhood coverage. It means I can spend an afternoon at a city council meeting instead of squeezing in reporting between other obligations. It means local journalism can keep going.
What won’t change
All news, stories, and newsletters will remain free for everyone. There are no paywalls, no exclusive content, no subscriber-only articles. Fremont Neighbor exists to serve the entire community, and that mission stays the same whether you support financially or not.
How to support (if you want)
There are two ways to help:
Monthly support: Become a Founding Neighbor on Patreon ($5/month)
One-time or flexible support: Venmo @FremontNeighbor
That’s it. No tiers with fancy names and escalating perks. Just straightforward ways to help sustain independent local journalism if it matters to you.

The bottom line
Thank you for reading, whether you’ve been here since March or just discovered Fremont Neighbor today. Thank you for sharing stories, sending tips, and being part of this community. Your engagement – in whatever form it takes – keeps this going.
And if you can chip in? That helps too.
Here’s to building a stronger, more connected Fremont together.
❤️ – Aly
