The Seattle Police Department said there is no ongoing risk to the public after a woman was stabbed and struck with a sledgehammer in Fremont Friday morning, Oct. 23, but detectives still need tips from neighbors.

“We don’t believe there’s any risk to the public,” Detective Shane Weatherford of the SPD’s Public Affairs Unit told Fremont Neighbor. No arrests have been made, and police have not located the suspect or the three men who were with her.

The victim and the female suspect know each other, though it isn’t yet clear how well, Weatherford said. The victim told police it was her first time meeting the three men.

SPD is not releasing a description of the suspect because she may be a juvenile, Weatherford said. The victim described her only as a young woman and doesn’t know her name or age.

According to SPD, the victim said she had been partying with the suspect and the three men at an apartment near the 900 block of North 39th Street. The group then drove in her car to an alley near the 4600 block of Palatine Avenue North, where she said the assault happened. Neighbors there told police they heard screaming from the vehicle. A 911 caller reported the injured woman around 9:15 a.m.

Police later found her car near Whitman Avenue North and North 39th Street, with a bloody sledgehammer inside and the keys in the ignition. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the hospital told KOMO News.

Weatherford said video is especially useful from near the alley on Palatine Avenue North and from near Whitman Avenue North and North 39th Street. Anyone with doorbell, security, or dashcam footage from Friday morning, or any other information, is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
