Some good stuff is happening in the neighborhood this week. This is just a curated list; there’s plenty more going on in Fremont. See the comprehensive calendar on our digital light pole at fremontneighbor.com/events.

November 5–8: The Things You Can’t Forget
Robert Sindelar, co-owner of Third Place Books, returns to the stage in “The Things You Can’t Forget,” a solo monologue at West of Lenin, 203 N 36th St. The piece braids together his return to theater after a 25-year absence and his mother’s memory loss at the end of her life, a reflection on caring for an aging parent through dementia while finding a way back to an art once set aside. Shows run at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday, produced by Always On My Mind Productions.

Thursday, November 12: Long List Book Club
Ophelia’s Books hosts its monthly Long List Book Club from 7 to 9 p.m. at the shop, 3504 Fremont Ave N. Led by co-owner Jason, the club digs into lesser-known fiction and classics that play with form and genre. November’s pick is “The Diary of Anna Comnena, or The Very Political Adventures of a Transgender Byzantine Princess in African Elevators” by Tis Kaoru Zamler-Carhart. Book club titles are 15% off at the store.

Through November 15: Fremont Baptist Church Thanksgiving Dinner Drive
Fremont Baptist Church is collecting food through Sunday, Nov. 15, for its Thanksgiving Dinner Drive benefiting the Union Gospel Mission’s downtown shelter. Organizers are asking for canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, gravy, turkey parts and stuffing mix to help assemble holiday meals for neighbors in need. Drop donations in the box at the church, 717 N 36th St., on Sunday mornings, or call the office at 206-632-7994 to arrange another drop-off time.
