Fremont Neighbor Notes for August 15

Hello, neighbors! Welcome to Fremont Neighbor Notes, a Friday guide to what’s happening around our community in the coming week.

August 16-18: NB I-5 Ship Canal Bridge Closure – The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Revive I-5 Ship Canal Bridge preservation project comes to an end next week but not before a complete northbound closure from 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, August 18. Early Monday morning all northbound I-5 lanes will be open to traffic following the month-long lane reductions.

August 16: A.B. Ernst Park Cleanup – Join your neighbors for a cleanup event at A.B. Ernst Park on Sunday, Aug. 16,  running from 9 a.m. to noon. The event organizer, Ron Wilhelm, is seeking approximately 15 adult volunteers (18 and older only due to potential hazards) to cut blackberry vines, remove invasive plants, clear garbage and trim shrubs to improve park safety and sight lines. The City of Seattle will provide tools, but participants should wear long pants, long sleeves, closed-toe shoes and bring water, sunscreen and weather-appropriate gear. This community effort will help create a cleaner, safer park while we await the planned redesign and reconstruction of the A.B. Ernst Park Expansion.

August 16 – Fremont Brewing 16th Anniversary – Fremont Brewing celebrates its 16th anniversary Saturday with limited vintage beer releases starting at 11 a.m., including rare barrel-aged varieties like BBOMB and BBADS that will be released hourly until sold out. The first 100 customers receive a complimentary stemless barrel-aged glass, and the brewery will offer all-day sales of its 16th Anniversary Barrel-Aged Barleywine. Starting at 4 p.m., the brewery will offer $4 pints on select beers including Golden Pilsner, Sky, Interurban, Lush and Lost Lake Cider.

Welcome!
