Some good stuff is happening in the neighborhood this weekend. This is just a curated list; there’s plenty more going on in Fremont. See the comprehensive list at fremontneighbor.com/events.

Saturday, October 10: Hunt the Universe scavenger hunt
Hunt the Universe, a free all-day scavenger hunt, takes over Fremont on Saturday. Teams of five to 10 get 12 hours to work through about 100 open-ended clues, from solving puzzles to digging into neighborhood history, with prizes for the top teams. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. at the Lenin statue, 3526 Fremont Pl. N., and clues drop at 9 a.m. It’s free, but teams should register in advance.

Saturday, October 10: B.F. Day Emergency Hub grand opening
Upper Fremont’s new B.F. Day Emergency Hub holds its grand opening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the B.F. Day ball field, 4025 Linden Ave. N. Neighbors can see how the hub works after a disaster and pick up simple steps to get their households ready, with free coffee, doughnuts and kid-friendly activities. Hunt the Universe teams may turn up here too, since some of the day’s clues point to the hub. Organizers ask attendees to register ahead.

Sunday, October 11: The Jimothy Jaunt
The Jimothy Jaunt, a 10-mile group walk through Phinney Ridge, Fremont and Ballard, sets off around 10 a.m. from the Phinney Neighborhood Center and ends at Urban Family Brewing in Ballard. The route winds past the Fremont Market, the Ballard Farmers Market, the Ballard Locks and Golden Gardens, and walkers can join for a single mile or all 10. More details are available here.
