Last week a group of us gathered on the back deck at The Handsome Jack Supply Co., the N. 36th shop that’s also a clubhouse. Between the barber and a customer strumming a guitar, the talk turned, as it does in Fremont, to how much the neighborhood has changed.
Which is how we got to Miracle on 34th Street: the artist-built, business-sponsored miniature golf course the Fremont Arts Council erected in 1994 as a fundraiser for the Northwest AIDS Foundation. The kind of interesting tidbit that makes people love the Center of the Universe.
That’s what these meetups are about. Every so often we get together with our Founding Neighbors, the readers who help keep Fremont Neighbor going, and swap stories and news about the place we all live.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, become a Founding Neighbor and get in the room: https://www.patreon.com/c/FremontNeighbor
Thanks to Murphy Gilson at Handsome Jack for hosting (and for taking the fabulous photos)!
