The Seattle Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners will hold a special meeting July 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller Community Center, 330 19th Ave. E., to consider Seattle Public Schools’ proposal for a new Lincoln High School athletic field at Lower Woodland Park.
The meeting includes a public hearing; comment can also be submitted by email, and virtual attendance is available.
SPS is recommending a full-size, multi-sport field at N. 50th Street and Aurora Avenue N. – the concept previously presented as Option B – along with a renovation of the track at Lower Woodland Field #7. The district is asking the board to approve moving the project into environmental review. SPS anticipates the field opening in fall 2029.
The recommendation has drawn opposition from Tree Action Seattle over the project’s tree removals, which you can read about here.
